Signature Outdoor Series features hollow or flat ground D2 High Carbon Tool Steel Blades. D2 Steel is an air hardened, high carbon, and high chromium tool steel that is extremely wear resistant and tough.

D2 Steel is commonly used in the machine industries to manufacture dies and punches that repeatedly cut other materials. The blades are heat treated to a 62 Rockwell hardness and are guaranteed to retain their factory edge for extended periods of heavy use. When it does come time to re-sharpen, the blades will hone to a razor edge.

In our opinion, there is nothing better than D2 steel for a working field knife.

Styles with blades over 5" receive an upgraded leather hand laced snap sheath.

PRODUCT FEATURES

Silver Stag's new Short Alaskan Fillet Knife takes the humble fillet knife to a new level. The flat-ground D2 steel blade is several levels above the material used in most filet knives, and while it flexes enough for fish use, it’s stiff enough for boning and butchering tasks.

A 7-inch blade might be a bit much for panfish, but for anything larger than a pond bluegill, the Short Alaskan Fillet cuts a stylish figure in a category not known for fine design.
